Day 1: Hanoi – Hoa Lu – Trang An
Your guide and driver will meet you at 8:am. You will then embark on a journey south for about 100 kms to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of the Dinh and Le dynasties dating back to the 11th century. Having been eroded over the years, the dilapidated ruins have nearly been absorbed by the spectacular jungle, creating a mystical atmosphere that will be sure to set your imagination running. After lunch in a local restaurant you will continue to nearby Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its outstanding natural beauty and the scenic karst formations. These contribute to its reputation as being the “Halong Bay on Land.” Board a small boat and meander lazily down the peaceful river while passing through a series of caves, enjoying the sounds of soaring birds overhead and paddling along the crystal-clear waters of the river. Jagged limestone hills jutting skyward from the green rice paddies will be sure to bring out the photographer in you. We then return our homestay in the afternoon for a shower and dinner. Stay overnight at the very simple homestay.
Day 2: Trang An – Cuc Phuong National Park – Hanoi
After breakfast and 9:00 we will head up to Cuc Phuong National Park, where we will be taking some enjoyable trekking within the Park (insect and reptile spotting along the way), visit to the Botanical Gardens and the oldest forest in Vietnam, then after lunch in the National Park you have a small rest and free time to walk around before returning to Hanoi, arriving about 5:30 PM.
